The rules that decide your case

Requirements DHA Publishes

These are the specific conditions taken from the authority's own service pages — the details that most often decide whether an application proceeds or stalls.

Good Standing Certificate must be current

DHA requires the certificate to be valid and not older than six months at the time of application. Requesting it too early is a common and avoidable delay.

Surgical specialties must supply a logbook

The last two years of surgical logbook are required for surgical specialties.

Verification comes before registration

Qualifications, experience and registration must be verified through a Primary Source Verification agency, and any required computer-based assessment passed, before the registration application is decided.

Registration and an active licence are not the same thing

Registration is tied to the category, title and specialty you applied under. A healthcare facility then activates it into an active practising licence. You cannot practise on registration alone.

Three attempts at the assessment — across all authorities

DHA states the professional must pass the related assessment within three (3) attempts across the Authorities. Failing repeatedly at one authority is not escaped by applying to another, which is the opposite of what most people assume when a first attempt goes badly.

DataFlow and the CBT exam can run in parallel

DHA states plainly that verification and the computer-based assessment can be done at the same time. Treating them as sequential — waiting for the DataFlow report before booking the exam — adds weeks to the timeline for no reason.

Registration is valid for one year and is not a licence

DHA states registration is valid for one year, and that a healthcare facility must activate it into a licence before the professional can start practising. Registration alone does not permit practice.

Draft applications are deleted after six months of inactivity

DHA clears draft applications left inactive for over six months, sending a reminder to the registered email address fifteen days beforehand. Worth knowing if you start an application and pause it while arranging documents.

The PSV result must come first

DHA requires the professional to have received the Primary Source Verification result for submitted documents before the registration application proceeds, and states an applicant must not be blacklisted.

Document readiness

Required Documents

This is the document list DHA publishes for this service, not a generic checklist. Your case may need additional items depending on profession, title and specialty.

Important: DHA requires the Good Standing Certificate to be valid and no older than six months when you apply — requesting it before your other documents are ready is one of the most common causes of an avoidable delay. This page does not collect document attachments.

What it actually costs

DHA Fees

DHA publishes a single credentialing fee for its professional registration service. The other costs in a DHA application are charged by separate organisations — the verification provider and the testing provider — and the activation fee is handled through the employing facility.

What you pay forAmountSourceNotes
DHA professional registration (credentialing)AED 200OfficialStated by DHA as applying to all professional categories.
Primary Source Verification (DataFlow)AED 900 – 1,700IndicativeVaries by professional category and how many documents are verified. Charged by DataFlow, not DHA. Confirm your exact package price at checkout.
Computer-based assessment, where requiredAED 700 – 1,100IndicativeOnly applies if an assessment is required for your category and title. Charged by the testing provider.
Licence activation through the facilityVaries by categoryIndicativePaid once a facility activates your registration into an active practising licence. Confirm the current amount with your employer or on Sheryan.
Knowledge and Innovation FeeAdded at checkoutOfficialDHA states this is applied at checkout alongside the credentialing fee, without publishing the amount on the service page. Expect the total to exceed AED 200.

How long each stage takes

DHA Processing Times

StageHow longSourceNotes

Primary Source VerificationAround 3 – 8 weeksIndicativeDepends entirely on how quickly your universities, employers and regulators respond. This is usually the longest and least predictable stage.
These are per-stage times, not a total. An authority's published service duration covers only its own decision once a complete application reaches it. Verification runs before that and is usually the longest part of the process.

DHA FAQs

Questions About DHA Licensing in Dubai

What is a DHA license?

DHA professional registration is part of the Dubai healthcare licensing pathway. Registration is linked to the applied category, title and specialty, and a healthcare facility activates the registration into an active licence before practice.

Who needs a DHA license in Dubai?

Healthcare professionals planning to work in Dubai healthcare facilities may need to follow the relevant DHA pathway for their profession, title and specialty.

What is DHA PQR / self-assessment?

PQR and self-assessment guidance help applicants consider whether their profile aligns with the requirements relevant to an intended pathway before proceeding.

Is DataFlow required for DHA?

Primary-source verification may be relevant to the DHA process. The applicable verification step depends on the professional profile and application route.

Can I apply for DHA from outside the UAE?

Many professionals begin preparing their DHA pathway from outside the UAE. The relevant steps depend on the individual profile and intended case route.

What documents are required for DHA licensing?

Document needs can include identity, qualification, experience, professional registration and good-standing information, with exact requirements depending on the individual case.

How long does DHA licensing take?

DHA states its professional registration decision takes 5 working days once a complete application is submitted. The overall timeline also depends on Primary Source Verification (typically 3–8 weeks) and any required assessment, so a case-based estimate is more useful than a single headline figure.

Can UAEHealthPro guarantee DHA approval?

No. UAEHealthPro is an independent consultancy. DHA makes the final decision based on its rules, eligibility criteria, verification and review.
