Worth knowing first
Nursing roles in the UAE are almost always advertised as licence-required. In practice that means a facility will ask which authority you are licensed under, or how far along your application is, before an interview is arranged. Knowing your own answer to that question is what moves an application forward.
A Dubai facility needs DHA. Abu Dhabi needs DOH. Facilities in the northern emirates generally work under MOHAP, and Sharjah facilities may need SHA. A licence is tied to the emirate, so one does not automatically let you work in another.
With DHA, passing registration gives you a professional registration tied to your category and title. A facility then activates it into a practising licence. Employers know this distinction even when job adverts do not spell it out.
MOHAP calculates experience from the date your professional licence was issued, not from graduation. That single rule changes whether many nurses meet an experience threshold.
Extended time away from clinical practice can affect eligibility. MOHAP publishes gap limits of three years for evaluation and two years for licensing.
